"The public WLAN hotspot service market is likely to demonstrate strong growth in 2004 and is likely to grow steadily through the forecast period," said Shiv K. Bakhshi, Ph.D., director of IDC's Mobile and WiFi Infrastructure worldwide. "However, the impact of developments in cellular technology on the WiFi space is difficult to predict at present because it will be a function of strategic visions of actors in the market."
