This IDC study forecasts the five-year revenue opportunity for metro Ethernet equipment from 2005 to 2010. IDC breaks down metro Ethernet equipment revenue by geographic region, including the United States, EMEA, Asia/Pacific, and the rest of the world (ROW). IDC also breaks down the worldwide market by the major equipment segments, including switches and routers, multiservice provisioning platforms (MSPPs), and metro wave-division multiplexing (WDM). The study identifies market share leaders for 2005 for the metro Ethernet equipment market as a whole and for each of the three individual equipment segments.
"With double-digit growth rates, metro Ethernet products will be one of the most dynamic opportunities for wireline telecom vendors over the next five years." - David Emberley, research manager, Telecom Equipment
