This IDC study looks at the worldwide and U.S. PC form factor market by commercial and consumer segments out to 2009. Fifteen subcategories are tracked, and their shipment numbers are estimated.
"The days of one size fitting all PC users' needs have been long gone. We'll demonstrate scenarios leading to greater diversification in the maturing PC market over the 2005?2009 forecast period. Shipments of traditional PC form factors will decline and be replaced by several types of newer models targeted at more specific uses. To cope with the changing landscape, vendors will need to better monitor and control the PC manufacturing process so that they can react more effectively to the fickle buying habits of consumers and IT buyers." ?
