This IDC Forecast Update presents an updated (2Q06 actual and annual forecast data up to 2010) look at the worldwide PC marketplace. It is valid as of September 2006 and provides forecast and growth figures for PC shipments at the worldwide level and for key regional markets. Details include unit, value, and average system price (ASP) figures, including compound annual growth rates (CAGRs) for the period 2005-2010. For comparison purposes, the tables in this document also include historical figures for 2003-2005.

Regional details are also provided for PCs by form factor and dollar value of shipments for the United States, Western Europe, Asia/Pacific excluding Japan (APEJ), Japan, and the rest of the world (ROW).

The regional and worldwide PC server forecasts represent the latest projections from IDC's Commercial Systems and Servers research team, with focus on the x86 server platform.
