This IDC study discusses the worldwide server market, which declined 0.8% to $25.8 billion during the first half of 2006 when compared with the same period a year ago. Although growth in the United States was greater than in some other regions during this time, it was not enough to offset declines in Western Europe and Japan.
"We have maintained the spending profile in the 2006 and 2007 time frame to reflect the potential impact of virtualization, but we still expect healthy long-term growth in server revenue as customers continue to invest in their underlying compute infrastructure." ? Steve Josselyn, research director, Enterprise Computing
