This study contains IDC's worldwide router forecast for 2005-2010, updating the forecast published in Worldwide Router 2005-2009 Forecast Update: August 2005 (IDC #33774, August 2005). It provides a forecast for the total market and four segments - high end, midrange, low end, and small office/home office (SOHO) - by revenue and units shipped. We also include a geographic split of router revenue by the following major regions: Asia/Pacific, EMEA, the United States, and the rest of the world (ROW).

"The router market continues to be driven by service provider demand at the high end. Enterprise routers have fallen in price and incorporated new feature sets, changing the dynamics of the enterprise market," says Eve Griliches, research manager, IDC.
