This IDC study looks at the top 10 predictions for the worldwide server market, comprising both commercial computing and technical computing. These predictions are published annually, and the list presented in this study represents a mix of predictions: Half are from IDC's Enterprise Servers: Technology Markets group and half are from IDC's Technical Computing group. "Vendors that wish to succeed in both segments of the worldwide server market must leverage the key trends toward enablement of a distributed-computing infrastructure, the evolution of a more universal form of management for server nodes, and the need to keep capex and opex in check," said Jean S. Bozman, research vice president in IDC's Enterprise Servers group.
