This IDC study examines the market for components going into 802.11 WLAN client and infrastructure markets. This includes 802.11b, 802.11a, 802.11g, dual-band 802.11a+b/g chipsets, 802.11n, and "pre-n" and "draft-n" components shipping into client-side applications and access point devices. IDC forecasts WLAN semiconductor revenue will increase from $1.5 billion in 2005 to $3.2 billion by 2010, a 17% compound annual growth rate (CAGR).
