Prices are still at a premium compared to hard disk drives (HDD) and the technology has yet to enter a full maturity phase, yet the drop in cost-per-Gigabyte in the coming years and the strong push towards speed and density in all system platforms will make this component become a cornerstone in hardware design in the next few years," said Giorgio Nebuloni, research analyst with IDC European Systems and Infrastructure Solutions.
