Business intelligence (BI) and business process management (BPM) technologies have been on a predictable collision course for a number of years. There are a couple of simple reasons for this. Firstly, it is impossible to manage business processes effectively without timely information. Secondly, BI and decision-making processes do not exist in isolation of the operational reality of business. In short, BI and BPM share important synergies - ‘savvy’ organisations should exact competitive advantage by finding intelligent ways to connect and integrate them.
