Worldwide DBA Tools and Utilities 2004-2008 Forecast

This IDC study provides a five-year forecast of the DBA tools and utilities market. This is a competitive market involving tools used for managing databases; it derives its revenue from the data management facilities (DMF), relational and object-relational database management systems (RDBMS), and pre- and postrelational database management systems (PDBMS) markets.

"The coming years will bring both opportunity and significant threat to providers of DBA tools and utilities," said Carl Olofson, IDC program manager, Information Management and Data Integration Software. "The opportunities are to be found arising from the need to manage databases that are increasingly complex at a time when immediate access and simplicity of access are becoming paramount. The threats come as database management systems vendors make their products."
