U.S. Key Horizontal BPO Functions 2004-2008 Forecast: By Top 5 Vertical

This IDC study presents a five-year forecast for the U.S. business process outsourcing (BPO) market for the top 5 vertical industries within the business functions of procurement, finance and accounting (F&A), customer care, and human resources (HR). The purpose of this study is to identify and quantify the market opportunity for service providers by the top 5 verticals within each of these functions and present recommended strategies for service providers to take advantage of these opportunities.

"During the five-year forecast period, IDC is expecting especially strong interest in BPO to come from the following industries: communications, financial services, manufacturing, energy/utilities, and retail," said Romala Ravi, program manager, BPO Services. "Anchor drivers for this interest are cost management and risk management. These drivers are being applied to a whole host of BPO goals that include technology access and optimization, business process integration and centralization, business flexibility, business expansion, regulatory compliance, and the generation of new revenue streams."
