Worldwide Logistics Applications 2004-2008 Forecast

This IDC study provides analysis and a forecast of the worldwide logistics applications market. The study includes revenue data and estimates for 2001?2008 for the two product lines that jointly represent the logistics applications market ? transportation management applications and warehouse management applications ? and for four geographic regions.

There is no doubt that logistics applications are getting hotter now that the economy is beginning to rebound. Strong growth rates in 2003 are showing the effect of pent-up demand from a depressed 2002, which had declined by 1.5% versus 2001.

Gisela D. Wilson, director of IDC's PLM Solutions, says, "IDC is confident that logistics applications vendors will see solid growth now that economic stability has manifested itself more clearly in 2004. Vendors will benefit from global manufacturers' demand for software solutions that will enable them to achieve higher efficiency, better cost control, and greater reliability in their logistics operations."
