PoE: Will Asian Enterprises Bite?Product Type: Market Research ReportPublished by: IDC Published: March 2005 Product Code: R104-19220 Description
PoE will ultimately become a de facto technology embedded in LAN switches. IDC estimates the APEJ market for PoE to have reached US$96.09 million in 2004. We forecast the market to expand to US$1.14 billion by 2009 at a CAGR of 64%. "Notwithstanding the value of innovation brought about by the vendor community in introducing enhancements to LAN technologies, it appears critical to achieve a standardization so that enterprises can enjoy interoperability, improved performance and reliability. It cannot be refuted that the needs of the corporate customer remain the key focus for every networking vendor. IDC predicts that while 802.3af compliant products are being developed, considerable revenue opportunities exist for vendors, which creatively bundle products and technologies through close collaboration with various device manufacturers for developing PoE," observes Grace Yeo, research manager, Asia/Pacific Enterprise Networks, IDC Asia/Pacific.
