PoE will ultimately become a de facto technology embedded in LAN switches. IDC estimates the APEJ market for PoE to have reached US$96.09 million in 2004. We forecast the market to expand to US$1.14 billion by 2009 at a CAGR of 64%. "Notwithstanding the value of innovation brought about by the vendor community in introducing enhancements to LAN technologies, it appears critical to achieve a standardization so that enterprises can enjoy interoperability, improved performance and reliability. It cannot be refuted that the needs of the corporate customer remain the key focus for every networking vendor.
