What Do The New Java Enterprise and Java Desktop Systems Mean For Sun Canada and Its Partners?Product Type: Market Research ReportPublished by: IDC Published: February 2004 Product Code: R104-22834 Description This study examines the impact of Java Enterprise System (JES) and Java Desktop
System (JDS) on Sun Canada and its partners. "These initiatives represent a
major new thrust by Sun," says Steve Poelking, Director of Infrastructure and
Applications Products and Services. "An integral component in the success of
these initiatives will be partners and as a result Sun Canada will need to work
closely with them and address their needs."
IDC Canada believes there are three main factors that will dictate the degree
to which Sun Canada gains traction with its partners: (1) The level of Sun ONE
expertise by the partner; (2) Whether the partner is an exclusive Sun-focused
partner, or whether there is a strong, committed Sun champion on-board that
partner that can drive action; and, (3) The strength of the value proposition
that Sun is making for JES and JDS.
Overall, IDC Canada expects Sun to achieve some measure of success within its
own customer-installed base for JES. For Sun Canada's partners, IDC believes
2004 will be a building year as they ramp up on training and as JES establishes
a track record in the market.Table of Contents Table of Contents IDC Opinion In This Study Situation Overview An Overview of the Java Enterprise System (JES) Figure: Java Enterprise Product Roadmap An Overview of the Java Desktop System (JDS) JES and JDS Partner Programs and Details Figure: The Canadian JES and JDS Distribution Model Future Outlook Introduction An IDC Assessment of JES and JDS The "Strategic" Objective of JES and JDS The Marketing Figure: Worldwide and Canadian Linux Server Market Share The Pricing IT Operations The Partners Essential Guidance Learn More Related Research Synopsis |
