This IDC study segments the Western European CRM applications market by vertical industries at the Western European level and for five major countries: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K. The study shows Siebel Systems leading a number of vertical industries, SAP leading others, and the two vendors tying for first place in two verticals. "SAP has successfully sold its CRM product in industries, where it is relatively strong, such as manufacturing and utilities. Siebel maintains strong leadership in those industries for which it has developed very industry-specific offerings such as in finance and communications," said Bo Lykkegaard, senior research analyst in IDC's European Software Group.
