Taking the Pulse of Training Outsourcing

Product Type: Market Research Report
Published by: IDC
Published: March 2006
Product Code: R104-23870
Description

This IDC study examines the learning community's impressions of training outsourcing services. In particular, this demand-side study examines the following:

How widespread is the adoption of training outsourcing? What is the nature of training outsourcing engagements? Do buyers see it as primarily a cost savings tool or a transformational engine? What activities are being outsourced, and what qualities are companies looking for in an outsourcing provider? Who do buyers think of when they hear the term training outsourcing or provider?

"Respondents to IDC's survey show that training outsourcing is a well established practice within their respective companies," says Peter McStravick, senior research analyst with IDC's Learning Services Group. "However, the bulk of the opportunity currently occurs as select outsourcing engagements. In order for this market to see continued adoption of complete training outsourcing engagements, the vendor community needs to work at providing a more compelling value proposition to prospective buyers.
