Malaysia Handheld 2006-2010 Forecast and Analysis

This IDC study examines the pen-based and converged handheld devices in Malaysia with forecast data until 2010. It also provides a market analysis, review of operating systems, and trends to look out for in the Malaysia handheld market.

"A total of 932,124 units of handhelds were shipped in Malaysia last year, representing year-on-year growth of 77%. HP and Nokia were the undisputed leaders in the pen-based and converged device segments, respectively," says Andrew Wong, research manager, IDC Malaysia. He adds, "IDC expects the converged mobile device market to continue expanding from 2005 and beyond at a vigorous pace. Expanding to reach 1,089,763 units, the converged device market will exhibit a growth of 18% in 2006. As the market matures and following the trends in the overall mobile phone market, the growth, whilst remaining at positive level, will fall back in the following years."
