Japan Network-Attached Storage 2005-2009 Forecast and 2H04 Vendor Shares

This IDC study compiles the performance of the network-attached storage (NAS) market in Japan from 2002 to 2004 and market forecasts up to 2009. The market's performance from 2002 to 2004 was studied from the perspective of revenue, unit shipment, and terabyte shipment, together with analyses by class, embedded OS, and drive interface. Masaaki Moriyama, research manager, Storage Systems Research, IDC Japan says, "The NAS market in Japan turned toward positive growth in 2004 and is expected to show two-digit growth in 2005. The comeback of the NAS market, which was once in a slump, include reasons such as the formation of new categories such as nearline storage and content-aware storage (CAS) as well as the expansion of the usage of NAS for backup purposes."
