Supplier Strategies for Grid-Based Advanced Storage, 2006Product Type: Market Research ReportPublished by: IDC Published: February 2006 Product Code: R104-24818 Description
While the term "grid-based storage systems" is not highly visible from storage suppliers, a transformative shift is underway, as virtualization and grid-based technologies are being brought to bear on storage infrastructure moving toward on demand and dynamic environments. "Many suppliers have robust strategies and active investments in grid-based storage," states Robert Gray, research VP, Storage Systems, IDC. "This is very important, as users are increasingly in pain with today's SANs and are looking for solutions. Strategies and probable success vary among suppliers, and virtually none are actively reaching up the data software stack where the user value increases from application-friendly data and information services. Opportunities abound." Table of Contents
