Western European MFP Installed Base, Page Volume, and Supplies Forecast, 2005-2009

As the Western European MFP market continues to grow strongly then the scope for additional revenues from supplies also increases as the shipments and installed base increases accordingly. Inkjet, monochrome, and color devices will all see increased installations across the home and office environments alike. The prospects for future revenues and profits are strong and will continue to increase throughout the forecast period.

According to Phil Sargeant, senior research analyst, "It is not uncommon for vendors to generate the majority of their revenues and profits from supplies. This effectively means that they must continually ship huge quantities of cartridges and media to their end users and to help facilitate this they must encourage the user to increase the amount of pages generated on each machine despite marketing the MFP as being beneficial in reducing the costs of the user."
