Worldwide Technical Computing Systems 2006-2010 ForecastProduct Type: Market Research ReportPublished by: IDC Published: June 2006 Product Code: R104-26027 Description
This IDC study presents an overview of IDC's forecast for the technical server market for the 2006-2010 period. The data in this study is based on IDC's segmentation of the technical market: technical capability, technical enterprise, technical divisional, technical departmental, and technical workgroup. "The technical server market grew by more than 85% from 2002 to 2005 and grew by 24.4% from 2004 to 2005. In 2005, the market grew by $1.8 billion to about $9.2 billion. We believe that the continued strength in the market is driven by a combination of new users entering the market, current industrial users making greater use of computational methods, increased requirements to identify and manage petroleum resources, and continued geopolitical tensions. We expect to see a return over time to more sustainable growth rates in the mid- to high single digits. Even so, we believe the market of computer systems sold to scientists and engineers will top $14 billion by 2010." - Christopher Willard, research vice president, Technical Computing Systems Table of Contents
