The 2005 mobile phone-specific semiconductor market grew 4%, to $18.5 billion. Increasing multimedia and applications capabilities and evolving air interfaces both contributed to this growth. The market leaders, Texas Instruments and QUALCOMM, remained in the number 1 and 2 positions, respectively - the same as 2004.
