Worldwide Workstation 1Q06 Vendor SharesProduct Type: Market Research ReportPublished by: IDC Published: August 2006 Product Code: R104-27393 Description
This IDC study accompanies the U.S. and Worldwide Workstation Tracker and the Workstation Regional Tracker. It provides an overview of market performance, analyzes key changes, and reports general trends for the first quarter of 2006. The first quarter of 2006 declined sequentially in the personal workstation (PWS) segment. Both desktop and mobile PWSs fell in 1Q06. Dual-core products are shipping in volume from some vendors and are well received by the user marketplace. "The overall workstation market declined in the first quarter of 2006; users delayed their purchases as new workstations were introduced by the vendors. Although the workstation market has reached maturity, it is still growing year to year in single digits. IDC forecasts steady growth for the PWS market segment and a slow but steady decline in the TWS space. Dual-core and multicore workstations will accelerate the replacement of older 32-bit workstations," said Lloyd Cohen, director, Worldwide Market Analysis, Global Enterprise Server Solutions.
