LANs and Servers in U.S. SMBs: Changing Hardware, Environments, Applications

This IDC Presentation is part of a client presentation given in April 2006 that provides an overview of LANs and servers in small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The use of different types of servers as well as server brand preferences is examined, along with server workloads. Preferences for different network operating systems are discussed along with the growth of Linux. Finally, the information sources that SMBs use to find out about computer hardware are compared with those used for networking and storage equipment.
