This IDC study investigates trends surrounding the mobilization of enterprises. Our survey was conducted among 564 respondents who participate in IDC's Mobile Advisory Council (MAC). The respondents answered questions about the mobilization process with regard to who has deployed mobile applications, who the decisions makers are behind mobilizing the workforce, which applications are mobilized in the enterprise, and what the issues are surrounding mobile devices and wireless service usage. The research revealed that mobile functions that improve worker productivity and enable them to get closer to the customer are some of the most important key drivers for mobilizing the enterprise. "Mobile deployments that improve mobile worker productivity and get them closer to the customer are big motivators for driving corporate decision makers to mobilize an enterprise," said Diana Hwang, research manager, Mobile Consumer and Enterprise Metrics.
