This IDC study presents the results of a recent survey of software developers worldwide on the subject of mobile application development. IDC recently surveyed 2,100 software developers worldwide on the subject of developing mobile applications. What it found was that mobile application development is definitely now mainstream and will continue to expand in the coming years. "There are significant opportunities for development software vendors in support of mobile application development," said Steve McClure, research vice president for Application Developers and Development Software at IDC. "Different sectors of the overall development software market are more mature, and some demand is starting to saturate there. But some other sectors, especially those associated with application life-cycle management, are poised for growth as mobile application developers realize the need to better manage their growing portfolios of mobile applications."
