This IDC study presents IDC's data for and analysis of the 2005 market for technical high-performance computing systems, plus historic data from 2001. The census data includes revenue and shipments segmented by competitive segment, vendor, price band, and processor type. Clustered versus nonclustered systems are also examined. "2005 was another stellar year for the technical computing market," says Jie Wu, research manager in IDC's Technical Computing Systems group. "Total revenue reached $9.2 billion, while the total number of units shipped was 191,283. Compared with 2004, revenue was up by 25% and shipments were up by 23%."
