Applications Adoption in Western European Vertical Markets: An End-User Perspective, 2006Product Type: Market Research ReportPublished by: IDC Published: December 2006 Product Code: R104-29052 Description
This study draws on the results of IDC's European Vertical Markets Survey, carried out in July 2006, in the top 5 Western European countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K.), among 1,950 companies with more than 20 employees. The survey investigates vertical market IT spending directions, solution priorities, investment plans, adoption of new technologies, as well as mobility, outsourcing, the role of IT within the organization, and customer satisfaction with IT suppliers. The focus of this study is on adoption and plans for investment in ERP, CRM, and industry-specific solutions, as well as channel selection, by vertical market. Results are given for total Western Europe for the following vertical markets: financial services; discrete manufacturing; process manufacturing; telecommunications, transport, and utilities; retail and wholesale; government; healthcare and education; and business services. "Vendors need to continue monitoring the industries in which they have traditionally been stronger, adapting their offering to their customers' changing needs, and seizing any new opportunities for upgrades. At the same time, it is vital for their longer-term growth to identify the sectors where penetration is still low, but companies' needs are evolving fast," said Serena Da Rold, program manager, IDC European Vertical Views.
