IBM and Lenovo announced on January 24, 2008, that they have entered an agreement whereby the server maker grants a manufacturing license for its x86-64 rack and tower systems to the PC maker. The deal excludes blades and IBM's scalable enterprise X-architecture technology, which scales from 4 to 32 processors in a single system. The first products from the relationship will be released in the second half of 2008, with general availability postponed to 2009. Table of Contents
