Japan IT Security 2008 Top 10 Predictions

This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J8330101) presents the forecasts for the 10 main trends in security products, services, and market in the year 2008. The trends were presented and analyzed not only in terms of technology but also in terms of legal systems, social issues, internal controls, and so forth.

Based on the forecast of the Japan information security market in the year 2008, IDC thinks it is necessary to observe the vendor trends carefully in response to the increase in the range of threats and their effects on society. "As security measures increased in importance, in additional to providing products, vendors should also proactively communicate to users the importance of the measures and their risks of exposure to security threats. As for users, they have to improve their security awareness and also work at ensuring they have sufficient professionals at hand to deal with security threats," observes Tohru Inouye, Research Manager, Security, IDC Japan.
