IDC's 2007 U.S. Consumer PC Survey, Part 2Product Type: Market Research ReportPublished by: IDC Published: April 2008 Product Code: R104-33533 Description
This IDC study is the result of IDC's 2007 U.S. Consumer PC Survey. This national survey of 983 U.S. households was conducted online in late 2007 to assess current household usage and future demand for personal computers. This study covers the future outlook results, while the accompanying document, IDC's 2007 U.S. Consumer PC Survey, Part 1 (IDC #211305, March 2008), addresses the current usage results. "The consumer market has been more of a key driver in the U.S. PC market than ever before. With the transition to notebooks and lower prices of PCs, many consumers are looking to buy or replace new systems. Consumers are at a point where they have larger storage, application, and multimedia needs. This is causing many consumer refreshes as well as more multi-PC homes. Survey results from almost 1,000 respondents indicate that over 60% plan on purchasing a new PC in the near future; 53% of those are considering notebooks, up from 45% in last year's survey," says Doug Bell, analyst with IDC's Quarterly PC Tracker.
