This IDC study details the growth in shipments of converged mobile devices (CMDs) to small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) over the forecast period from 2008 to 2012. Shipments of CMDs will grow from 4.2 million in 2007 to 38.0 million in 2012. This study examines the key trends that will affect the growth of SMB adoption of CMDs around the globe. "Globally, increasingly affordable converged mobile devices and mobile data plans are encouraging adoption of CMDs by small and medium-sized businesses," said Timothy Doherty, associate research analyst for SMB: Mobility at IDC. "While the United States will remain the leader in CMD shipments throughout the forecast period, larger SMB worker percentages in other regions will factor into those regions' strong growth."
