Western European DSL Equipment Competitive Analysis Update, 1H06 Vendor SharesProduct Type: Market Research ReportPublished by: IDC Published: January 2007 Product Code: R104-34340 Description
This document analyzes the Western European DSL equipment market during the first half of 2006. It focuses on vendor market shares for both network equipment (e.g., DSL access multiplexer [DSLAM] and other forms of public DSL access) and customer premises equipment (CPE). Public access is defined as termination into an Internet service provider (ISP), public telephone operator (PTO), or other network service provider. Vendors' market shares are calculated according to unit shipments and end-user revenues. In addition, vendors' shares are divided on a country-by-country basis. Furthermore, network equipment is divided by technology while CPE is separated by form factor. "During the first half of 2006, the shift from the provisioning of simple modems towards more feature-rich devices with an integrated modem continued at a high pace," according to Jan Hein Bakkers, a research manager in IDC's European Telecommunications and Networking group.
