Western European MFP Sector Forecast and Analysis, 2006-2010

This 2005 sector study looks at the developing MFP market through various sectors.

The information contained in the study is of user segment shares and forecasts for the MFP market in Western Europe, and is based on the latest 2010 MFP forecast from published printer studies. The segments covered are home, businesses with fewer than 100 employees, 100-499 employees, 500 or more employees, and government/education. The information is provided for all classes of MFP from desktop through to high speed. All information is provided for Western Europe, as well as for 16 countries: Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Greece, and the Republic of Ireland.

"Vendors are continuing to tailor their go-to-market strategies to specific end-user segments. Buying habits and requirements differ wildly between segments and indeed countries and so the vendors and the channel are constantly altering their strategies to meet those requirements. The home market is an oligopolistic market while the competition in the general office markets is more widespread as more vendors and more models are available. Also it must be pointed out that there are more routes to market for the office market, which gives greater scope and opportunities for the vendors to exploit," said Phil Sargeant, senior research analyst, European Peripherals.
