Description

This Manufacturing Insights report explores the current attitudes and trends toward product life-cycle management (PLM) applications within the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ region. PLM, as a strategic capability, grows in importance within the region through companies that are looking into upgrades. With the introduction of PLM capabilities, companies have increased its control over the cost and quality of the product and the ability to offer extra value-added services (VASs) to customers.

"We expect an increased in the adoption of PLM applications across companies in the APEJ region. About three quarters of the organizations we spoke too increase their IT budgets for PLM applications. The key drivers for the adoption of new technologies are cost reduction and quality improvements. We also see the cross-functional nature of PLM coming to the fore, with PLM investment decision makers coming from across the organization," says Dr. Christopher Holmes, vice president, Manufacturing Insights, IDC Asia/Pacific.
