Western European Content Management Forecast 2009-2013

This IDC study provides our preliminary market sizing of the content management software market in 2008 and a 2009-2013 forecast for this market for Western Europe, and the 16 Western European countries. Historical and forecast revenue data is shown for the Western European market and by operating environment. This study does not contain vendor-specific revenue, market shares, or vendor profiles, all of which will be published in a separate study in 2Q09.

"Our preliminary estimate for the growth of the content management software market in 2008 is 6.9% in dollar terms, but essentially flat when measured in euros due to the weak U.S. dollar," said Anne-Lise Wang, research vice president for software research in Europe at IDC. "The decline in the economy across Europe affected content management software also in 2008. On the other hand, many content management vendors did very well in 2008, and since the underlying drivers including regulatory compliance and need to manage risk continue to pose challenges to organizations, IDC expects this market to return to good growth already in 2009 and in the rest of the five-year forecast period. Growth will increase gradually and the rates will be lower than forecast so far."
