In 2008, the market fell with -3.5% year-on-year (YoY) growth in annual services provider (SP) revenue or US$6.2 billion. Outlook for the next five years expects the market to slow down, falling to -3.1% CAGR due to the continuous decline of voice service revenue, reaching US$6.6 billion of total telecommunications services by 2013.

"The economic crisis will be hard on telecommunications investments and will force the market to be full of price competition. However, low pricing is not all that clients ask from SPs. Increasing services' values by making them reliable and differentiating yourself from competitors as well as customizing to meet clients' unique requirements will be the way to gain more customers," says Worajate Charoennish, associate market analyst, Telecommunications, IDC Thailand.
