Japan Unified Communications Market User Survey 2008Product Type: Market Research ReportPublished by: IDC Published: July 2009 Product Code: R104-39790 Description This IDC study, which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J9050101, presents the analysis of unified communications (UC) usage based on the findings from Enterprise Networking Equipment User Survey, 2008, conducted in July 2008. According to the 2008 survey, the implementation rates of VoIP systems/services remained almost unchanged compared with the 2007 results, but there are several changes in the trends such as improved implementation in the small and medium-sized business (SMB) segments and the growing focus on cost reduction. The implementation rates of unified applications increased, but the level of satisfaction decreased. "Amid the market climate facing dwindling economic sentiment, VoIP equipment vendors and sales channels should brace for possible decline in the number of contracts and in profitability, as well as develop UC proposals targeting SMBs with concrete cost-reduction effects, package new products such as license-based products that are easy to implement and reasonable, and discover new business opportunities by leveraging the existing sales channels," says Takashi Manabe, research manager, Communications, IDC Japan.
