Are CLECs like doctors: helping others with their health while not getting into shape themselves?

Yes and no. Yes in the sense that while CLECs help other companies optimize their operations by providing network connectivity, they are considerably behind these customers regarding mastery and connection of their own telco processes. No, however, in the sense that CLECs are aware of the problems and are addressing them through aggressive operations support systems (OSS) deployment.

This report looks at the OSS being deployed. It also looks at the difficulties that remain, problems that are actively being tackled by CLECs and OSS vendors alike. This continues a long-term New Paradigm Resources Group (NPRG) dialogue on the importance of OSS to CLECs, along with the impact OSS is having on issues ranging from profitability to consolidation.
