Description
Network Document Solutions had a strong year in 2006, and InfoTrends expects continued growth over the next five years. Last year many companies in the office equipment market launched new solutions initiatives. Ricoh debuted its new Document Solutions and Services Division (DSSD), a globally created solutions division dedicated to supporting the growth of Ricoh solutions and services, and Xerox officially unveiled its development platform, the Extensible Interface Platform (EIP), which has already shown the potential for a library of solutions. In addition, many acquisitions and new alliances were formed to strengthen certain vendors’ portfolios and positions in the solutions industry.

Thus far in 2007, there has already been quite a bit of activity in the solutions space, as all of the OEM vendors have showcased strong solutions initiatives at their annual dealer events. Sharp Electronics displayed more than 70 solutions running on its OSA platform; Konica Minolta demonstrated PrintGroove and other office and production solutions; Xerox highlighted various solutions for its new IT dealer channels, including its PagePack dealer MPS program; Kyocera Mita exhibited a large solutions pavilion and spoke quite extensively about its Managed Print Services strategy; Ricoh has continued to enhance its solutions portfolio and announced its 5-star program for solutions dealers; HP renewed its solutions program, which consists of a new 3 level program for ISV partners; and Canon strengthened its position with additional partners at its conference. One thing is for sure: solutions are here for the long haul, as many have embraced the concept that solution software and professional services are an integral part of a vendor’s office equipment strategy and sales process.

This year’s NDS forecast employs the same principles, concepts, and methodologies of years past to ensure consistency in the Networked Document Solutions market and forecast. This document presents many of the same details as prior forecasts such as the methodologies, definitions, and categories, although the trends and figures have been updated to reflect the current market.
