France Telecom is a provider of fixed and mobile telephony and data transmission services. It operates through various wholly-owned Orange subsidiaries and other majority holdings, in France, the UK, Spain, Poland, and other parts of Europe. France Telecom's PCS segment recorded revenues of E27,745 million in fiscal year 2006, an increase of 17.9% over 2005. The segment's revenue growth was driven by the acquisition of the Spanish mobile operator, Amena, in 2005. The group introduced its strategy plan - the NExT plan in June 2005, a 3-year plan targeted to reduce costs and strengthen the Orange brand. France Telecom recorded strong cash and cash equivalent of E3,970 million for the fiscal year end 2006, which enables it to pursue organic and inorganic growth opportunities.
