  • European rail freight and transport infrastructure services sector attracted interests of strategic players as well as private investors. Companies operating in the marine transportation segment acquired assets to enhance their fleet capacity. Activity in the air transportation segment focused on chartered aviation and infrastructure services.
  • The transport and logistics sector recorded 58 M&A deals in June 2008, a decrease of 7.8%, as compared with the trailing six month average. In value terms it recorded deals worth $12.6 billion, an increase of 49.1%. Over the same period, M&A activity in the emerging markets declined by 29.2% in volume terms and 73.4% in value terms.
  • The month recorded 10 public offerings worth $3.3 billion, an increase of 172.7% in deal volume over the six month average. The aggregate deal value increased by 4.5 times over the six month average. Private placement deal activity increased by 68% in volume terms over the last six month average.
