Offshore Financial Services in Dublin and the British Isles 2003Product Type: Market Research ReportPublished by: Datamonitor Published: August 2003 Product Code: R313-5900 Description IntroductionOffshore Financial Services in Dublin and the Channel Islands 2003 analyzes the offshore deposits and mutual funds markets in Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man and Dublin IFSC. It presents the size of each market, retail/institutional split, and which countries the assets come from (quantitatively). Finally, the markets are forecast through 2004. Scope * Offshore deposits and offshore mutual funds quantified in Dublin IFSC, Guernsey, Jersey and Isle of Man from 1998-2002e * Segmented into retail and institutional deposits and mutual funds in 2001 * Source of deposits and of funds quantified from: Benelux, France, Germany, Italy, Nordic region, Spain, the UK, US and Asia-Pacific in 2001 * Forecasts for 2003 and 2004 Report Highlights Offshore markets in Dublin and the British Isles declined in 2002, mainly as a result of the continuing market downturn (Guernsey’s offshore deposits and Dublin’s offshore funds were the main contributors to this decline). However, in the period 1998-2002e the region saw relatively strong growth of 12.2% compounded annually. Asia-Pacific and the US are significant source countries for Jersey offshore assets. And unlike UK investors who place a fairly equal portion of their assets into deposits and funds, mutual funds dominate the choice of investments for investors from the US and Asia-Pacific. Guernsey will be the fastest-growing offshore funds market in 2003f-4f and Isle of Man will be the slowest; in Guernsey’s case, growth will be driven primarily by increasing fund balances in the source countries (particularly the UK), offset somewhat by outflows due to the EU’s Savings Tax Directive.
