Penetration of MVNOs is extremely low in the region, with total MVNO subscribers expected to reach only around 2.1 million by the end of 2006, less than 1% of total mobile subscribers. Compared with North America and Europe, which combined will reach 42.4 million subscribers in the same time frame, the prognosis for Asia does not look promising.However, there are pockets where the MVNO model is working and markets in northern Asia will open up—first in Japan, then in Korea during the next few years.
