SDV: The Next Step in MSO Video Evolution

Switched digital video (SDV) is the next step for cable operators. With the bandwidth crunch hitting a new high for the providers, they have evaluated ways to conserve bandwidth effectively while maintaining existing product offerings. A majority of the operators within the US market have begun intensive trials (e.g., Time Warner, Cablevision and Cox) or are just announcing the start of the process (e.g., Comcast). The evaluation of the technology is over, it works. It is now the vendor evaluation stage, and vendors have the best SDV offering to meet the operators’ needs.
