In August, 2006, all joint venture manufacturers of PDP TV reduce the price of PDP TV. Principal of marketing department of Suning Appliance disclosed that Panasonic, Toshiba, Hitachi, LG, Shanshui and Xianfeng were negotiating with distributors to cut down the price and put it into practice in August. Currently, the price of PDP is falling constantly and it is expected that the price of PDP TV will be cut down by another 15% in 2006. Take 42 inch PDP TV of about RMB 10,000 as an example. Its price is expected to fall to RMB 8,000 next year. Because of pressure from the price of LCD flat TV and home-made PDP TV, foreign manufacturers also take price cutting-down into consideration. This price war reveals that Chinese flat TV market is experiencing a reform.
