Drinks Advertising in The European UnionProduct Type: Market Research ReportPublished by: just-drinks Published: February 2004 Product Code: R756-10 Description Political and public concern over alcohol abuse has resulted in the advertising
of beverage alcohol becoming a much debated subject among legislators,
public health professionals and academics throughout the European Union.
Alcohol policy in general is an increasingly pressing area of concern for EU
member governments and policy regarding alcohol advertising, while by no
means the only subject being addressed, is certainly among the issues with
the highest profile.
Not surprisingly, opinion remains divided regarding how much advertising
contributes to the problems of alcohol abuse and how much intervention is
necessary. There are some academics, public health professionals and
legislators who are pressing hard for increased regulation and some are in
support of a complete ban on alcohol advertising. On the other hand, there are
many who believe that selective legislation and self-regulation are preferable.
The alcohol and advertising industries are naturally in favour of self-regulation
but are not opposed as a matter of course to some legislative intervention.Table of Contents Drinks advertising in the European Union today A varied legislative landscape Self-regulation on trial Selling self-regulation The future A guide to the legislative and self-regulatory frameworks in place Austria Legislation Self-regulation Contact details Belgium Legislation Self-regulation Contact details Denmark Legislation Self-regulation Contact details Finland Legislation Self-regulation Contact details France Legislation Self-regulation Contact details Germany Legislation Self-regulation Contact details Greece Legislation Self-regulation Contact details Ireland Legislation Self-regulation Contact details Italy Legislation Self-regulation Contact details Luxembourg Legislation Self-regulation Contact details Portugal Legislation Self-regulation Contact details Spain Legislation Self-regulation Contact details Sweden Legislation Self-regulation Contact details The Netherlands Legislation Self-regulation Contact details United Kingdom Legislation Self-regulation Non-broadcast media TV advertising Radio advertising Contact details Appendix For further information visit: Advertising self-regulatory organisations in the EU Austria Belgium Denmark Finland France Germany Greece Ireland Italy Luxembourg The Netherlands Portugal Spain Sweden United Kingdom Social aspects organisations in the EU Belgium Denmark France Germany Ireland Italy The Netherlands Spain United kingdom Online sources of information Free email newsletters Other research reports Global news and feature articles Search the web Your feedback |
