Product Code: R759-5424Description The cable modem termination system (CMTS) market consists of cable access platforms that are deployed at the head-end or distribution hub of a cable operator or cable multiple systems operator (MSO) network. Such platforms include both proprietary and Data over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS)-compliant products that may also integrate multiple networking functions such as routing, integrated quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) gateway functions, and radio frequency (RF) capabilities in addition to their primary function of terminating cable modem traffic. The cable modem termination system (CMTS) market segment generated growth in 2006, but 2007 is expected to dip, as DOCSIS 3.0 upgrades will take at least a year to kick in and MSOs invest more aggressively in other areas such as VoIP and video. This Competitive Landscape Report combines company and market analysis from the leading telecommunications competitive response firm, Current Analysis, with quantitative market share data from one of the industry's most respected market research firms, Synergy Research Group.
