MultiService WAN switch sales continued to decline this quarter, due to the soft service provider market and seasonally slow summer sales. Total worldwide MultiService WAN switch manufacturer sales revenues in 3Q 02 were $531 million. This is a decrease of 16% from the previous quarter, and a drop of 42% from 3Q 01. About 77% of the sales were for ATM/IP/MPLS-related equipment, and 23% of the sales were for Frame Relay.

This report includes detailed equipment vendor market shares for MultiService WAN switches sold to service providers and enterprises, as well as a rolling three-quarter forecast of the market.
